This Pre-service Teacher Education Curriculum is framed on the basis of this perspective. It is expected that the ITEs would implement this curriculum in a most effectively manner.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5cc6825 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5cc6825\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\"><div class=\"elementor-widget-container\"><p>According to the NCTE Guidelines Elementary Teacher Education courses are labelled uniformly as Diploma in Elementay Education (D.El.Ed). D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) is a two-year professional course that prepares teachers for the elementary level of education. It is offered by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala, in collaboration with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4fc4acb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4fc4acb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\"><div class=\"elementor-widget-container\"><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The course consisting of 400 working days excluding the examination days. The total working hours should be 2400 hours, @ 6 hrs per day. Teacher Training Institutes should work for 36 hrs in a week. There should be an internship of 100 working days as part of the course. Each training institute should have a minimum of 10 affiliated schools for the purpose of internship. The academic calendars of the training institute and the school where internships is to be carried out should complement and supplement each other.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23728d0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23728d0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\"><div class=\"elementor-widget-container\"><p>The course aims to develop the competencies and skills of prospective teachers to teach in child-friendly and inclusive classrooms. The course covers various aspects of educational psychology, philosophy, sociology, history, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and ICT. The course also provides opportunities for school experience, workshops, and projects to enhance the practical knowledge and professional development of the student-teachers. The course is open to candidates who have passed the higher secondary examination or equivalent with 50% marks. The course is offered in Malayalam, English, Tamil, and Kannada mediums in various teacher training institutes across the state. The course follows a semester system with four semesters and a total of 420 credits.
